Introduction
Imagine you have a drawing containing hundreds of block references.  Now imagine that all of the blocks are exploded. What if it were possible to restore those exploded blocks?  Well now it is.  Not only that, but the objects don't have to be perfect matches either.  This is a program you'll have to see to believe so we highly recommend that you view the demo.

Process Overview
Block Prospector uses a selection set that you provide as an example of the objects that would make up a block reference.  Then it searches the drawing for geometry that closely matches the objects in the selection set.  The key word here is closely.  It doesn’t have to be an exact match.  Objects may vary slightly in their physical relationship with one another and still be considered a match.  For example, if the selection set contained a text object whose height was 0.1”, then another set of objects containing a text object whose height is 0.098” would still match.  Block Prospector even recognizes geometry at different scales and rotation angles from the example set.

Attributes
If the block contains editable attributes, then Block Prospector can move text values into those attributes during the replacement process.  You specify which text value in the example set should be placed in each block attribute and all block references created by Block Prospector will use the same transfer sequence.

Accuracy
Because of the infinite number of possible geometric arrangements, it’s possible that Block Prospector might make an occasional undesired replacement.  Three verification tools are available to review the replacements.  The replacements can be accepted (causing the original objects to be deleted from the drawing), reverted (causing the original objects to be restored), or skipped (both new and old geometry are saved for later acceptance or reversion.)  These tools can zoom around the drawing, display the original objects, and highlight the replacement block reference.

Examples
Block Prospector is a powerful, complex program that is more easily understood by seeing an example of its use.  Therefore, a sample video and drawing are included in the download.  It is recommended that you use both during your evaluation of the program.

Features
Automated geometry matching finds geometric groups for replacement
Fuzzy logic object search does not require exact matches
Automatic text value transfer will extract the values from text objects and place them in the appropriate attribute
Automatic rotation matching recognizes geometry that is in different orientations from the original group
Automatic scale matching recognizes geometry whose scale differs from the original group
Three replacement verification tools allow you to review, accept, and reject replacements
